Oatmeal, my perfect morning snack

I had previously mentioned how I have been eating oatmeal as my morning snack. This has proven to be far and away one of the better food options for me. It works to get some good soluble fiber in my diet, which keeps me from eating more than a basic lunch. I used to eat my lunch, then want more afterward, leaving me open to some bad temptations. Now I could skip lunch until my afternoon snack if I really wanted (I never do).
Oatmeal can get boring, especially the generic version of quick oats that I buy. However, I have been adding different things to my oatmeal to keep it interesting. This morning for example, I added a handful of mixed nuts I have at my desk (almonds, raisins, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds). At home I added raisins and sliced almonds, which was surprisingly good. But my go to option is honey and peanut butter. This option not only tastes good, but it fills me up the most. The honey takes care of any sweet cravings without spiking my blood sugar too much.
I have mentioned the soluble fiber, which keeps me full. Another benefit is its cholesterol reduction powers. I have not have cholesterol problems before, but its nice to have oatmeal as my safety net. Oatmeal also encourages slow digestion and stabilizes blood sugar levels. Oatmeal has cornered the market on my morning snacks
